This is one those movies when you end up thinking...i dont know what category i would put that in, but i liked it ..and right up to the title sequence i thought it was called by the English title.."the beat that my heart skipped" Mai le francais il sont superior(ha ha)ne est pa?....all the action and engagement (another french word there)comes from the main character, and thus it is Romain Duris' breakthrough, and perhaps signature performance..( I havnt bothered with Moliere)this guy has charisma in bucketloads like a new Jean Paul Belmondo maybe,i could also see him doing comedy...
The edgeness of Romain's character , trying to find artistic achievement in the face of his brutal work, and workmates, makes that achievement seem doomed to failure ...the eventual resolution is somewhat trite, but satisfying nonetheless.
