I feel like I have discovered a long lost gem. Ace In The Hole stands along with Wilder's other masterpieces (Double indemnity, Some Like It Hot, The Apartment, etc.). In fact it was his follow-up to Sunset Blvd. Kurt Douglas gives an amazing performance as a news writer who finds a man trapped in a cave, but is more concerned with getting attention for the story than helping the man. It is a very timely film that deals with the media creating the news instead of reporting the news. This film is further proof of the genius of Billy Wilder.
