Faithless (2002)

I'm sure that when you have been directed by Ingmar Bergman for most of your acting career, you are going to learn a few thing about directing. Liv Ullmann directs Faithless very much in the style of a Bergman film, and we expect that since Bergman himself wrote the script, but it never feels like she is ripping him off. Incredibly intense and honest performances, and a story full of pain. This movie hurts. It's hard to watch because of how open and naked these people are. We are watching incredibly flawed characters, and Ullmann is willing to leave them bare on the screen for us to see their sins and flaws. The Ullmann & Bergman pairing is one of those rare perfect partnerships that has lasted over 50 years and has yet to fail.

Glory Be.......

Blades of Glory (2007)

Going into a movie like Blades Of Glory, you expect certain things. A silly movie with guys in spandex, and lots of laughs. Well I got a silly movie with guys in spandex, but no laughs. there were absolutely no laugh out loud moments in this film for me. In fact I only smiled 2 or 3 times. Will Ferrell, who I love and always seem to enjoy his films is just rehashing stuff in this one. I'm beginning to think that he always does this, and maybe It's starting to get old for me. John Heder is not funny at all. In fact, most of the cast is not funny in this. I really wasn't expecting much, and I'm not giving up on Ferrel, but I'm starting to grow weary of these films.
