I'm searching and tagging films, and I'm thinking "How come when I find Young Frankenstein, Spout doesn't offer me a bunch of other Mel Brooks flicks?"  (I often think in quotes ...)  Or, how about "Others who liked this, also lied these"  aka Amazon, et al?

I found how to search for films by directors ...  Not eggsactly intuitive.  I'd think it should be added to the drop down next to the search box.  And/or list credits under the synopsis, and hyperlink names of writers, producers, stars and my buddies who were second assistants to the steadycam operator, to a list of the flicks on which they worked.

Finally, how about the ability to add films?  Some notable titles are missing here ...  I mean, Where's "Buckaroo Bonzai - Adventures Across The Fifth Demension?" Where's "Robin Hood - Men In Tights?"  Someone has to add them!

My first visit to Spout Beta.  My brilliant sister was somehow involved in the development of this space, and as everything she touches turns to gold,  I predict Big Things here.

Me? I'm a middle-aged or better, retired/unemployed, ex-Navy filmmaker.  Studied film at Northern Michigan University, and at University of Southern California.  Did lots of ENG, EFP, and studio work.  While in Combat Camera, I covered Grenada and Beruit.  I eventually got kicked upstairs to management and ran the Navy's visual information community.   I'm a father of two, and decidedly off the market (lest this is destined to become some kinda meet market).  I am by no means a film snob.  My tastes lean towards comedies, more visceral/escapist action films, and great story-telling.

As I mess around in here, I can't help to think it looks a little like MySpace for movie buffs. I'm guessing my 14yo would be very much at home here  ... I'd think that if these folk can deliver DVDs as cheaply and efficiently as Amazon, rent them as efficiently as NetFlix, or stream video, they'll could have a cash machine.

Looking forward to wringing this out.
