Re: Original origins of movie quotes
"Badges? We don't need no steeenkin badges!"
From Blazing Saddles of course. So, recently I heard it was a misquoted parody of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre in which a Mexican bandit leader tells Bogart "Badges!? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinking badges!!"
Wikipedia reports that the novel, from which the film was adapted, read ""Badges, to god-damned hell with badges! We have no badges. In fact, we
don't need badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges, you
god-damned ***..."
Later, Weird Al Yankovick would exclaim "Badgers? Badgers?!? BADGERS?!? We don't need no stinking BADGERS!!!"
Podcasters will tell you "Transmitters? We don't need no stinkin' transmitters!"
