An Introduction
I'm not too sure how long Spout has been around but I've only recently discovered it. Thus far, I'm a huge fan. In my experience film communities are some of the most dedicated and loyal social networks around. What a great idea to take this community online.
As for myself, I'm a huge movie buff with a preference for independent and art-house cinema. Living in Kansas City, I'm also proud to be a member of the board of directors of the Kansas International Film Festival held in the Kansas City Metro area every year in September (keep an eye out and I'll try drop some KIFF-related updates from time to time).
Anyway, I'm glad to become involved with the Spout community and look forward to participating as much as possible. Any seasoned Spout-ers out there feel free to send any advice my way on making the most of the site.

I've found that the key to enjoying Spout is that you get out of it what you put in. For a lot of people, they just want to look at films and that would be it's most elemental use, but I've found that by contributing to the tagging that I've found other movies that I really enjoy. By contributing to the film blog, I've gotten good feedback & by participating in the groups, I've quickly built strong social bonds. To me Spout is about the community and films are a great way to bring people together. The more I participate the more people I meet and it's been a great experience thus far.
