Review of "Network"
This film is more and more relevant every day. And it's a great film. Hillarious and at the same time a really great comment on how TV warps peoples minds. Also deals with peoples need for someone to preach what they believe. But the film works on another level as well. I was telling my friend Roger about the film and I realized that it also works on another level. Warning people not only to beware of the truth spun by TV, but also beware of the truth spun by reality. To not take what our eyes see as complete fact but know that we are more then whats inside our skin and that there is a more birds eye view way to look at life so that we aren't just tuning into the next episode.
Howard Beale says, "you people are the real thing, we are the illusion" and that line works on this other level I'm talking about as well. Maybe reality is also an illusion. So it's an illusion creating illusions. Very meta.
