So it seems that the American remake of the BBC Life On Mars television series is to go ahead despite a pilot that received very dubious reviews at the time. The big news though is that Colm Meaney is no longer attached to the project as Gene Hunt and instead Harvey Keitel is taking on that role.
Now part of the reason I was prepared to give the remake a chance was because of Meaney who is an actor I enjoyed from his Star Trek days but Keitel is definitely a coup. As I understand it this will be his first stint as a television regular and he is an actor of enormous quality. I look forward to seeing what he does with the role.
On the other hand, I remain concerned about the American Sam and Annie - they are so far divorced from the British series based on the scenes I saw that I cannot imagine them working half as well.
