Vantage Point starts with a bang and delivers fairly through the first half of its running. However, after the initial cool factor wears off of the different view points from the same story, you are left with a lackluster thriller that fails to make any type of impact with its audience. I have some key concerns with the story arc of the movie, and although I applaud the plot device used for progressing the twists and turns any thriller delivers, it doesn't make up for the bland and flawed narrative. Let me argue for one second from the believability standpoint of the movies climax. Warning: this borders on potential spoilers, so if you have not watched this, you may not want to read any farther. If I am a villain who is a known assassin/terrorist, and through this narrative I am willing to kill 1,000’s of innocent lives to accomplish my goals, there is no damn way I am going to swerve out of the way of one stupid little girl who wanders onto the road, especially when I have the damned president in the back of my vehicle. How lame is that? Suddenly for no known reason I grow a heart over one little girl? After I just killed so many other people? Its things like this that pisses me off with Hollywood. Do they think we’re to dumb to catch that major character flaw? It took a solid movie and turned it into garbage within five minutes. Whatever, I would watch the first hour of the movie, just for the interesting plot device used, then turn it off and write your own ending in your head.
