Action Flick on Crack
Paul Walker? Seriously? Personally this guy is not one of my favorite actors. At least he wasn't until I saw him star in this action pact blood soaked thrill ride that is "Running Scared". I felt that same with Josh Hartnett before Lucky Number Slevin. I love it when these pretty boy actors get raw and dirty and prove their worth by breaking their cast-types, kudos for them. Now back to the movie. "Running Scared" has probably the most intense opening sequence I've seen in a movie ever. Unfortunately it draws itself thin at times, but this is minor and only slightly takes away from the over all experience. The movie follows Walker's character around as he tries to hunt down a gun that was used to knock off a few dirty cops. The catch is that it's tied to his son's best friend who has been abused and on the run. Find the kid and supposedly find the gun, this is the movies driving force in a nut shell. The story branches off from Walker to the kid, to Walker's wife at different times as the three meet up with basically the worst human beings alive. Seriously we get corrupted cops, violent middle-aged pimps, drug lords, hockey players with ties to the mafia, and my personal favorite; the kiddie porn/ serial killers who happen to be a happily married couple. Seriously this movie is not just insanely violently, but all around quite disturbing. All in a good way might I add. It reminds me of Tarintino's early works with Reservoir Dogs meeting Pulp Fiction. In the end, give Walker a chance, and I promise you, you will walk away not only from a great movie, but with a new found respect for Walker.

i very much agree with u on those first four or five sentences.
but i think i loved these movie way more than you. this was among the best film of 2006. too bad it was over looked for it's early release and extremely gruesome scenes...like they really care about that.
paul walker was good, it could not have worked with out him. but vera fermega or whatever her name is, was the hard core of this film. the whole scene with the kiddie porn/serial killers was just incerdedibly well done. i was in awe like roger ebert .
this movie is by far on the top five best films of 2006...for me.

For the record, the female of the kiddie porn/serial killer duo is Elizabeth Mitchell, who also plays Juliet on Lost. Creepy eh?
