"The Movie"
By BigA on Misc ramblings from the blog of BigA
" In the past few years I've acquired a new hobby: fly fishing. In many of my fishing "circles" they refer to "A River Runs Through It" as "The Movie". I didn't fully understand why avid fly fisher people would love and hate this movie all at the same time. I only recently took the time to watch it. Its a wonderful story. it also has beautiful cinematography. I would recomm ... [More]"
A trade?
By bbissell on bbissell Blog
" Although you could categorize it as a chick flick, I have to admit that I really enjoy the movie. Stopping to wonder why I do in fact like it, it came to me quite easily, who wouldn't want to be in Thomas Crown's shoes in this movie? Good looking young untouchable rule the world multi multil millionaire... hmmm... sound like a gig I would happily take up. Anyone else? I have to ... [More]"
Tummy Sticks anyone?
By bbissell on bbissell Blog
" It isn't very often where you can find a cult classic that meets up to the likes of Animal House and others. I love a movie where the lines are good enough to repeat and apply to your real life situations. Like, "Mom! Meatloaf! #$%@!" Or "Death you are my $#@$# lover!" Good clean fun, love the movie, thanks for listening. [More]"
What Movie Do You Think Has The Best ...
By davisfreeberg on Davis Freeberg's DVD AllStars
" We all have a few movies that we know by heart. When I was a kid it was the Amazing Chipmonk Adventure. I had seen it so many times that I could recite almost every line in the whole film. Even later in my life I still remember the film fondly, but as I've gotten older my tastes have changed to things a little more groundbreaking. Movies have a real impact on society and it' ... The Talent Given Us, brought to you ...
By paul on paul on spout.com
" I'm halfway through this film right now and I love it. It's fantastic. Everyone should watch it. With family, if possible.Part of the amazement I'm experiencing with this flick is I'm watching a real family. Andrew Wagner shot this thing with his parents and two sisters and it's so genuine. I feel like I'm in a minivan with my parents and two sisters. But I'm liking it, so mayb ... [More]"
Scary reality film
By Jbecher on Jbecher Blog
" I am not sure if you call this a reality film. But the overall theme of this movie was a bit scary to me. I do not like to even entertain the idea of my kids being like this. It makes me really want to focus more on Parenting, and just educating my kids. This was an interesting film. I would not watch it again. Any thoughts? [More]"
Peckinpah's "Straw Dogs"
By paul on paul on spout.com
" The synopsis for this film says that Dustin Hoffman's character, David—a pacfist, "finally resorts to the gruesome violence that he abhors."As if Peckinpah would make something so simple. A pacifist moves to the British countryside where his wife is attacked and when his home is under seige, he resorts to violence. In fact, in Straw Dogs David is not defending his house in the ... Sci-Fi at it's finest
By quint on An inordinate number of peppers
" I wish I could do more to share this one with people. It deserves to be hunted down and savored. It is in Czech and served to inspire many classic sci-fi movies that followed. This is not a space battle sort of sci-fi, but a contemplative story. 40 earthlings on a voyage to the Alpha Centauri system, the sun's nearest neighbor. They are searching for life. They discover themsel ... [More]"
Herzog's Nosferatu
By paul on paul on spout.com
" This is one of those experiences where the video shop gave me about four hours to have this film out and I tried to cram it in despite my better judgement. I was over tired and alone in a really warm house on a really cozy couch. And I was watching the German version (I'd like to go back and try the English one on for size).Anyway, I fell asleep. Nothing against Herzog, whom I ... [More]"
Zorro returns!
By pippin06 on Reel Thoughts
" I borrowed this one from my co-worker too. I wanted to see it in theaters, but never got the chance, and this one bombed out before I could change my mind. So, I was afraid that this was just going to be another poor sequel; a vehicle for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Antonio Banderas to make a quick buck. I mean, it was made 8 years after the first movie, The Mask of Zorro. And ... [More]"
