If you are a member of this group, you love everything about the Super Bowl of movies, especially the movies themselves! You love to make predictions, guess at the politics, discuss and dissect who should have been nominated and who should have won...or, you're just an avid movie lover that likes to pay attention. Group Name: Movies we do not want to see - Try to convince us to see these movies!
Group Description: Want to be a member? Send me a message with a list of at least 5 movies that you do not want to see.

There are many movies that I do not want to see. I'm not sure if its right of me to decide never to see a movie without seeing it. You know...like when a kid says they hate mushrooms even though they admit never trying them. So maybe this is a good spot for people to display movies they don't think they want to see, and see if anyone can convince us to try them out.
Body: Rachel Bockheim was taken aback when Ellen Page recognized her. "It should be the other way around," Bockheim said, laughing. Best known as skater Jackie Daniels for local roller derby league the Grand Raggidy Roller Girls, Bockheim has landed a gig in front of the camera for Page's roller-derby film "Whip It!" which is filming in the Detroit area. And Bockheim was surprised when the Oscar-nominated "Juno" actress complimented her on her skating aptitude. "She and (co-star) Juliette Lewis saw me skate at a tournament in Los Angeles," Bockheim said. "It was so cool that she recognized me as a skater." It's a major pat on the back for Raggidy girls Bockheim and Shawn Varner -- aka Dot Matrix -- that their skills on skates set them apart from dozens of hopefuls vying for a part during an open casting call in June. "Whip It!" director/star Drew Barrymore brought the production to Michigan to take advantage of the state's new tax-incentive package for filmmakers. Bockheim and Varner have been commuting to the east side of the state since mid-July and are committed to four-plus weeks of filming. The two women don't have speaking parts, but are likely to have significant face time in the film. "We're in that shady area between extras and actors," Varner said. "We're skating on the track (alongside the actresses). The neat thing is, we get to keep our skate names -- we're in the movie as Dot and Jackie." Read more...
Body: By John Serba The Grand Rapids Press A dozen projects, eh? That's how many potential films Rick Hert has on his plate as head of the West Michigan Film Office, a newly formed arm of the West Michigan Tourist Association. As executive director of the WMTA, selling the area's photographic assets to filmmakers is something Hert has done before -- but never so much as he is now. "I've been working weekends to keep up with everything," he said last week. That's a common predicament. Janet Lockwood, head of the Michigan Film Office in Lansing, left a phone message at 9 one night: "I do work long hours," she said. "I'm delighted there's a West Michigan Film Office now. We've been working with Rick Hert and the WMTA for ever so long -- he has been helping us without any particular affiliation as a film office." The West Michigan Film Office is a separate entity from the government-run Michigan Film Office. And the West Michigan Tourist Association is a long-standing nonprofit, privately funded organization in Grand Rapids. It has helped filmmakers who have come to the area before, including for 2002's "Road to Perdition," starring Tom Hanks. So last week's announcement regarding the WMFO is a formality, and a reaction to reality: In the wake of the state's new tax incentives, moviemakers are seriously considering shooting their films in the area. Hert could talk only vaguely about what work could come to West Michigan in the coming months. "We really needed an office to advocate for our side of the state," he said. "I just did some scouting for a low-budget horror film, and we'll be doing a lot of commercials. "I can tell you about this one, because we lost it: 'Red Sonja,' Robert Rodriguez's new $25 million project. We didn't have what he was looking for here -- but a lot of filmmakers are looking at Michigan first." Hert anticipated between 12 and 16 films could be shot in the area annually, to the tune of tens of millions of dollars for West Michigan. Lockwood concurred. "It's a good thing for West Michigan," she said. "Producers like having a film commission handy -- boots on the ground, as it were. This is a win-win situation." Source: MLive
Body: The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (2007) Watch trailer Directed by Cao Hamburger. Starring Caio Blat, Michel Joelsas, Germano Haiut, Daniela Piepszyk, Liliana Castro. A twelve-year old Brazilian boy who longs to see his team win out over Italy in the 1970 World Cup match finds his entire world turned upside down as his left-wing parents are forced into hiding and he is sent to live with his grandfather in Sao Paulo's Bom Retiro district. Though his country is being held in the grip of a military dictatorship and the war in Vietnam is raging abroad, young Mauro can't seem to think about anything else but the upcoming World Cup match between Brazil and Italy. If Jairzinho, Pele, and company can just win their third World Cup title, team Brazil will earn their third star on the strip - a feat that no other team in the history of the sport has ever managed to accomplish. When his Catholic mother and Jewish father are suddenly forced to go "on holiday," young Mauro is swept out of his middle class existence in Minas Gerais and taken to stay with his paternal grandfather in bustling Bom Retiro. A multi-ethnic district in which Jews, Arabs, and Greeks all live side-by-side, Bom Retiro begins to heat up with World Cup fever as things both at home and abroad all seem to be spiraling towards disaster. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide From City Lights. Body: Superman, Batman and the Hulk have long been welcome at Comic-Con, the annual San Diego confab where comicbook enthusiasts gather to geek out over the latest in genre entertainment (or "the popular arts," as the event's organizers call it).But Hollywood has been relatively slow to realize Comic-Con's potential as a launching pad for other forms of mainstream entertainment. Expect a major shift this year, as fewer-than-usual superhero pics ("Watchmen," "The Spirit" and "Punisher") make room for everything from comedies like "Tropic Thunder" and "Pineapple Express" to such family-friendly fare as "Land of the Lost" and "Race to Witch Mountain.""The same audience that likes genre movies likes comedy," says producer Peter Safran, who will push his Carmen Electra-starring "Disaster Movie" spoof in San Diego. "It's the right audience. There are few places you can go that have a targeted demographic."The hardcore fanboys won't feel left out, however. For sci-fi enthusiasts, there's the animated "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," "Terminator Salvation" and redo of "The Day the Earth Stood Still," plus horror buffs have the relaunch of "The Wolfman," Alexandre Aja-helmed "Mirrors" and latest "Saw" installment to look forward to. Even teen girls have "Twilight."Hollywood has finally caught on that Comic-Con is the ShoWest for fans, a place where studios can tout their upcoming slate by teasing exclusive footage and trotting out big stars to greet the crowds. It's an odd mix of tastemakers: Some come dressed as their favorite characters, others bring the entire family or plan their vacations around the event, and all seem eager to tell anyone who will listen what they think about what they've seen. That gives studios a one-stop opportunity to reach out to their target demographic and shape the early buzz, especially across the Internet."They're the first people to buy tickets, the first to buy the merchandise, the DVDs, the toys, the videogames," says Jeff Walker, a longtime consultant to the studios when it comes to planning convention presentations. "They're the hardcore fans everyone wants on their side."And yet, the crowd's enthusiasm has been broad since the beginning, says Comic-Con's marketing director David Glanzer, who cites an early appearance by Frank Capra as evidence of fans' ecumenical taste. It was only in subsequent years that marketers pigeonholed the event as a platform for genre film.George Lucas sent a group to promote the first "Star Wars," for example. Body: I had a chance to watch a special screening of Crawford at the 2008 Netroots Nation conference in Austin, TX--which is the same place the film screened at South by Southwest earlier in the year. Overall, the documentary was a funny, often charming, and extremely interesting look at the way the addition of a single resident (granted, it was Gov. George W. Bush) to small-town Crawford, TX, changed not just the trajectory of the community, but the lives of its residents.
Body: Christian Bale sits down with The Today Show’s Matt Lauer to talk about the upcoming summer blockbuster, The Dark Knight, opening this Friday. Here’s an excerpt from the interview: So much was made of Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker. It was such a dark role. In some way, perhaps, do you think in real life, it caused him to slip across some line of reality and may have had some role in his accidental death? Personally, I find it to be a complete lack of understanding of acting. I also find it very rude to try to create some kind of sound bite for such a tragedy. The man was a complex man, a good man, but you know what? I saw him having the best time playing The Joker. He was someone who completely immersed himself in his role. As do I. But in the end of the day, he was having a wonderful time doing it, he couldn’t have been happier doing it. Watch the interview here:
