Group Name: Movies we do not want to see - Try to convince us to see these movies!
Group Description: Want to be a member? Send me a message with a list of at least 5 movies that you do not want to see.

There are many movies that I do not want to see. I'm not sure if its right of me to decide never to see a movie without seeing it. You know...like when a kid says they hate mushrooms even though they admit never trying them. So maybe this is a good spot for people to display movies they don't think they want to see, and see if anyone can convince us to try them out.
Body: I admit the film redeemed itself in the last half, though I was still so shocked by the raunchy behavior of the son early in the film that I was unable to get over it.
While I don't necessarily recommend this film, I feel Goldthwait did a great job confusing our emotions and taking us on a dark journey to explore the true inner soul of most. Robin Williams is fabulous in this film as all others.
Body: Why would one ever choose to see a film about arm wrestling? Normally, none, though I invite you to check out this one. You will L*O*V*E it! Highlighting the careers of three dedicated men, you learn what is in their hearts and you begin to root for your favorite.
Beautifully shot and edited to keep the energy and emotion high; you'll find yourself screaming outloud for John and Voevoda!
I'm a long distance swimmer too and found this film fun to watch in that regard.
IF this listing is for the independent film, The Baker, also screened at the Waterfront Film Festival, 2009, then I highly recommend finding this film. It's funny, quirky, and very Ned Divine.
Body: The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) How did I miss this gem of a corporate slam back in the mid 90's? Certainly then I wasn't entrenched in corporate culture. It's sweet and funny. Granted it could move a little quicker, but I wonder if back in the 90s we weren't multi-tasking so much and now expect so more from our films to keep us engaged. Of course, I watched this while sewing and piecing together various fabrics for my designs.
Body: What did you see at Waterfront that you really loved? I was lucky to see several films and sit in all the seminars meeting some very interesting actors, producers, writers, and directors. Trying to fit in all that is possible, I'm still working out a 12 hour sleep deficit! I really enjoyed myself this year.I had a few favorites from the weekend. I sat on the edge of my seat watching Stephen Baldwin in Midnight Clear as his character spiraled deeper into desperation hoping he wouldn't harm and watching as connections of other characters where made to each other. My eyes were full of tears during Memories of Tomorrow, a tear drop running down my cheek every ten minutes as I watched a young businessman fall to Alzheimers his life devoted to his work, his remaining life now frustrating and wasted in a shrinking mind. I laughed quite a bit with, What's Wrong with DeeDee. This a very lighthearted film of miscommunication and good deeds. It's also produced by a Michigan company, Purple Rose!!I really enjoyed Blue State though it moved a little slow. For all of those/ all of us disgruntled with the current administration you'll enjoy watching the main character trying to find his way to Canada then realizing what he really needs to do.How could I forget American Fork??! This team of film makers is also responsible for Napolian Dynamite and Saquatch Dumpling Gang. The films are clean, hilarious, and always have a good message. It was nice to meet filmmakers devoted to their craft and making films that the whole family would enjoy.
Body: I mean, really meet them. If you'd like an opportunity to chat one on one, listen to advice, a career story, or how you can do more with film in Michigan, Waterfront's seminars are the place to be. There you'll be able to talk to actors, producers, writers, directors, etc. after the panel is over. Sometimes I even learn about films that I normally would have never picked and am always delighted.Seminars cost the same as a film, tickets available at the venue or box office. Here's more info:
Body: What's the next best thing than the films at a Waterfront?a.meeting people in line for a film,b.catching a glimpse of or a conversation with a famous actor, writer, or upcoming producer,c.hearing nationally renown musicians perform,d.the parties,e.morning coffee at Uncommon Grounds,f.late night indepth conversations with old and new friends, org.having to lift your feet at the boat shed venue due to flooding so you can enjoy the rest of your film safely (that only happened the first couple of years :).That's right, "d" the parties - though this list carries all my favorites of the festival!OPENING NIGHTThe opening party will be Thursday night, June 7th. Plan on a casual happy hour party on the lawn of the Singapore Yacht Club between Coral Gables and The Butler restaurants.. This park is off Water Street, down the street and up river from where they used to hold it.There will be beer and wine available and one of the local restaurants will likely be selling dogs or s'thing as well. Party starts at 6:30, live music should start by 7:30 if not before and a free film will be shown there also once darkness falls. Bring a lawn chair if you want to sit and enjoy the film.I love this party as it's only on this night where ALL the film guests will be in one place providing ample opportunities to meet and mingle. It's a great night for all the volunteers to come together after so much preparation and a great night to run into friends.I'll post the film when I learn what it is - please post yourself if you find out before me :)I believe Emerson Hart will be the headliner also this year! He just released a new album and it's fantastic!**it's rumored that SPOUT will be a part of opening night as well**FRIDAY NIGHTThe Dunes bar in Douglas will be sponsoring a special showing of The Life of Reilly on Saturday night, 9pm at their place - tickets on sale there or through the Waterfront Box Office. This can be a pretty lively and interesting place to dance after the movie if you're up for it.
This can be a pretty lively and interesting place to dance after the movie if you're up for it.</spout:body>

Body: Waterfront is one of the most laid back film festivals that I've attended, making to easy to hit everything and participate in all you can by not rushing around so much. I really enjoy this festival and helping others enjoy western Michigan. Below I offer some tidbits on getting around the festival. I'd love to hear how you've done Waterfront in the past.PASSESWaterfront offers incredibly reasonable passes for the day, a weekend, and a weekend plus private party passes. I typically go the volunteer route as you get great perks and also get to 'give back' to the festival. To volunteer, go to www.waterfrontfilm.org and sign up providing the day (or days) you'd like to work. There are various perks depending on how much you volunteer. All involve getting a t-shirt :)Pass info: ****All passes give you priority seating if you show up 15 to 20 minutes prior to the film****Day pass - gets you into all/any movies for one day. You sign up for the day. Cost: $60Super pass - gets you into all/any movies for the weekend. :) Cost: $150Fast pass - gets you into all/any movies, possibly a few passes to private parties and remember you get priority seating - first seating pics before everyone else in line. Gotta love it! Cost: $250Patron pass -gets you into all/any movies ALL weekend along with a few private party passes AND you'll get a $250 receipt to write off on your taxes in addition to a warm fuzzy for promoting film in west Michigan. Cost: $500Of course you can get individual tickets to any film or seminar. Go to the Waterfront website to for both pass and ticket sales.I like the passes as you never have to worry about a film being sold out -as long as you get there 20minutes before it starts.. and you don't have to commit to films until that weekend of :) Be sure to get your passes early though before they sell out! :) - - - - -Did you know these passes include the seminars? Did you know about Waterfront seminars? Attended one?SEMINARSIt's here that you can meet our soon-to-be-more-famous guests in person and listen to their story or their advice on movie making, Hollywood, traveling with film, or what ever topic is planned. Q&A is also opened up at the conclusion and often is the guts of the seminar. Check on-line and in the program (coming out over the holiday) for topics and planned guests for this year.Seminars are held in the nicely air conditioned (or heated pending weather!) High School venue. There is also a snack bar in this venue. Snacks at all venues of course, but I think the HS has hot dogs..THE TOWNSaugatuck is one of my favorite coastal towns. I think now is the time to book your B&B so you can party 'till the wee hours of the night and still make it to that 9am film the next day without sleeping through it. Go to the Saugatuck/Douglas visitor's beauro for more info and a list of places. I have seen the MapleWood B&B and Ivy Inn B&B and would recommend them. They both have sponsored Waterfront in the past too.COFFEEHands down, Uncommon Grounds located across from the best open face pot-roast sandwhich served at Walley'sTRANSPORTATIONThis town is tiny, isn't it?! I've yet to ride the shuttle that goes from venue to venue but at Sundance, I met so many interesting people on the shuttle that I'm tempted to try it this year. Weather might help that happen too :) If you're not familar with Saugatuck, just know you should bring comfortable shoes for walking and that parking is scarce. It's never a problem, but you might not just park where you think you might.. and plan plenty of time for walking to get to films or Seminars. How will you 'Waterfront' this year?
Body: We've only got six weeks to prepare for this years Waterfront Film Festival in Saugatuck Michigan! Check out their website now for pass information to make it an easy weekend. Only coming in town for one night? Then I highly recommend the Thursday opening night party that is held in the street where all the film guests will collect for a summery night of live music, a few drinks served by local sponsors, and a free movie in the street at dusk. This is very much a happy-hour attitude crowd but in the great outdoors of western Michigan along the Kalamazoo river. This is also the only day that all the film guests will be gathering in one area. Through out the weekend they'll be scattered at very venues and restaurants around town. Can you escape two nights? Set aside a day just for movies and get a day pass for as little as $60 and enjoy priority seating for every film you want. Don't like the film you picked? Just leave and catch another also starting at another venue in town. Some passes even provide entry to the evening's party.Check out: www.waterfrontfilm.org for more information.
