If you are a member of this group, you love everything about the Super Bowl of movies, especially the movies themselves! You love to make predictions, guess at the politics, discuss and dissect who should have been nominated and who should have won...or, you're just an avid movie lover that likes to pay attention. Group Name: Movies we do not want to see - Try to convince us to see these movies!
Group Description: Want to be a member? Send me a message with a list of at least 5 movies that you do not want to see.

There are many movies that I do not want to see. I'm not sure if its right of me to decide never to see a movie without seeing it. You know...like when a kid says they hate mushrooms even though they admit never trying them. So maybe this is a good spot for people to display movies they don't think they want to see, and see if anyone can convince us to try them out.
Body: Despite the several recommendations I had to watch this movie, I was genuinely impressed. It was way bigger and better than I imagined. A true modern day musical where people don't break into song on the street but rather sing along to their cd player while walking down the street. The soundtrack truly made this movie worthwhile. I loved it.
Body: Pushing Back while Pulling Forward. Half Nelson is a movie worth your time to watch. It doesn’t begin at the beginning of anything, and it certainly doesn’t end when the movie credits rolls. It shows a glimpse into the lives of two believable people, both at major crossroads of their lives. Dan Dunne is an inner city History teacher and girl’s basketball coach. He finds a lot of time to be a major crack addict with a crazy nightlife. He has no friends, no girlfriend, but several one-night-stands. However, he is an amazing and engaging teacher. He will not stick to the provided curriculum, but prefers instead to teach that “history is change” and referencing Hegelian themes. A tree is both strong and weak, both crooked and straight. This is the perfect explanation for Dan’s own life. He is neither the hero, nor the villain of the story. He is not a good guy with a drug addiction, nor is he a bad guy who has a few good qualities. Drey is a latchkey, 13-year-old girl, who is on Dan’s basketball team, and in his history class. Her single mother works all the time, and her brother is in jail for selling drugs. After a basketball game, Drey finds Dan smoking crack in the girl’s bathroom. She is completely unsurprised and is obviously familiar with this world, as she helps him lay down on the ground and wipes off his forehead with a cloth. Her brother’s friend, Frank, helps Drey’s family out with money, but also encourages Drey to join him in selling drugs. Frank and Dan struggle to be the role model for Drey in her life, but as one sells drugs and the other is a major user, neither are entirely what she needs. By the end of the film, Drey ignores Frank’s call to deliver crack, but there is no telling that she will not assist him again, and it can be assumed that Dan will smoke crack again. The camerawork is a bit shaky and unsteady, but this adds to the reality and shakiness of life. Actors, Shareeka Epps, who plays Drey, and Ryan Gosling who plays Dan Dunne, both have award-winning performances. This movie is great because of how believable it is, no one is all good or all bad, but rather these actors do an amazing job of being all things all the time. They are struggling to move forward, while being stuck where they are in their lives.
Body: Although at some point I'm sure that I have quoted a movie here and there, I don't really have that great ability to quote lines accurately. I often find it funny when people have quotes from movies and they interject them into conversation, I can even often place what movie they are from, but I cannot repeat them. It is as though I don't recall the exact wording of a movie quote, I can only recall the gist of what was said. The gist of a one liner or a joke is hardly funny. Really, not funny at all. I would need to watch a movie repeatedly to be able to actually recall a specific line, and there are few movies I watch over and over again. The anchorman is one I hear quoted often, and especially Napolean Dynamite. Sometimes I think Napolean Dynamite's purpose was to create a slew of funny one liners.
Body: Sorry, this may not have been a great film, but worst movie ever? Hardly. I enjoyed Independence Day, it had a few laughs, decent special effects and I don't care if the characters weren't all that well developed, it was non-stop action. Do not impeach! Also, I can't even believe Mars Attacks was listed throughout here as comparable to ID:4, I couldn't stop laughing during Mars Attacks. It was so ridiculous, it was absolutely hilarious.
Body: Maybe I didn't get the humor in this film, but I am generally pretty open to all sorts of laughs. In Death to Smoochy, however, I do not recall laughing once. I was bored, and I could not believe what a disaster this film turned out to be.
Body: I love it when a director does something unique with a film and gives it a new quality, such as a mixed up timeline sequence. It turns a film that may have been fine otherwise into something much greater. It can definitely add a great element to a movie, especially in the case of Memento. I felt that the backwards time in Memento played on the key theme of memory, and how time has a funny way of changing through memories, and looking back at them. I don't think Memento would have been even close to as great of a film if it had been told straight forward. Anyone have a good example of a non-linear film in which the fragmented approach only hurts the film and does not give it a positive element? Personally I did not care much for the movie Palindromes, nor was I a huge fan of Go.
Body: I loved this film. I also waited for them to have an affair with each other, and was thrilled to see it never happen. The movie was funny with all sorts of little bits of humor thrown here and there. Yet it had a feeling of possible reality in it. These people could have existed. Their conversations may not have been all that interesting or exceptional, but they had a quality about them. The movie did a great job of getting the feeling of distance in relationships across and the listlessness Scarlett's character feels while in Tokyo. Sure she wanders around, but it is enjoy to see the stroll. As an aside, I also love the soundtrack from this film. I think it contributed to the feelings and emotions felt by the two main characters. Not to mention some great karaoke songs. A different kind of romance. I recommend it. If nothing else, as something different than you've ever seen before.
