Body: Terrence Howard plays Jim Ellis in this based on a true story film about an abandoned recreational pool in Philadelphia's ghetto. Jim was one of I am sure very very few African American swimmers in the 70's who was often times not allowed to swim. Struggling to find a job, the City hires him to clean up an old building before it is going to be tore down. After some hard work he fixes up the swimming pool and invites some of the neighbor boys who had played basketball outside everyday inside to swim and cool off. After a lot of training they form a team and begin to compete with other schools. It is a great feel good movie, if you liked Remember the Titans and Coach Carter you will like this. Another great story, just with a different sport.

Body: I was only able to see 8-10 films while at sundance '06. Those films I saw did not include Alpha Dog which I am glad I did not stand and wait for in the 10 degree weather. From what I was able to see, Come Early Morning was by far my favorite. I was at the first screening as it was premiered and to hear Joey Lauren Adams introduce it was amazing. I left Sundance wanting to see it again and told so many people about it. When I saw spout.com let me pre order it, I signed up! Two weeks ago it should up in the mail as it was just released. Ashley Judd does a great job I think as Lucy a single hard working female who enjoys drinking and making poor choices who early the next morning regrets them. (thus the name) You can see this as she throws something away every morning. Lucy's relationships are not the best with her father and grandparents and and it seems she holds many of them responsible for things that have happened to her. The film is slow at times, but I think Adams does a great job in this film and really makes you think about relationships you have or have had with both family and friends. -"before you fall in love, you need to love yourself"

Body: I first saw this great documentary at Waterfront Film Festival in Saugatuck Michigan in 2005. It was, I don't know how else to say it. A Great film. I for an hour and a half was not in an old boat barn but rather in a prison where inmates where being giving a chance to do something they maybe never had before and give them a almost another chance. Rogerson does a great job of introducing the different actors as the film goes. the most interesting thing to me is he allows you to meet them all and see the good things they are doing and not till the end gives you a small glimpse into why they maybe where they are today. That is, in the prison system. A great true story about someone who cares for those who have made some wrong choices in their life. A must see.

Body: I liked the new one so much, I have always wanted to see the orig. So I got to thinking, Spout has this for sale for 7$ and some change. I pay that to go see a new movie that I have no interest in I just feel I need see b/c my television told me to and so I can talk to others about it. So, I thought it was worth paying the $7.54 to own it. My thought process was, be able to watch it with a few other people. Even if I/we hate it we can all say we saw it and we still have saved money. So I now own it, funny how those credit cards seem to send things to you for free, but now I must find the time to watch it. I will be back on here to let you all know what I think about it when I get around to watching it. I do have certain expectations after seeing the new one. I know this is bad to do, same as reading a book then seeing a film or visa versa. So now that I have said that I hope I can watch it with an open mind. Comments on the film to come soon. If you have seen it let me know your thoughts. -djk

Body: I can remember it like it was yesterday. I had a copy of Big Trouble in Little China on a VHS that was taped off TV one late night. A friend had given it to me because he didn't want his mom to find it. At the time we where probably about 10 or so. It was the TV version you know with commercial breaks nicely cut out with fuzzy pauses still and swear words dubbed over with oh darn. So next time you are looking for a movie, rather than picking out a new release, check this out. You will see how Kurt Russell went from TV in the 70's to the films you know him for in the 90's like Back Draft and then Executive decision. It is not something I would suggest watching with your wife or girlfriend as it is a little cheesy and they will be bored. But if out are looking for a movie to watch with a few guys, and you have not seen it, give it a try.

If you ever played sports in high school at one point you had a tape you made up that had "Eye of a Tiger" on it and you know who you are!
