If you are a member of this group, you love everything about the Super Bowl of movies, especially the movies themselves! You love to make predictions, guess at the politics, discuss and dissect who should have been nominated and who should have won...or, you're just an avid movie lover that likes to pay attention. Group Name: Movies we do not want to see - Try to convince us to see these movies!
Group Description: Want to be a member? Send me a message with a list of at least 5 movies that you do not want to see.

There are many movies that I do not want to see. I'm not sure if its right of me to decide never to see a movie without seeing it. You know...like when a kid says they hate mushrooms even though they admit never trying them. So maybe this is a good spot for people to display movies they don't think they want to see, and see if anyone can convince us to try them out.
Body:
I will not even dip a toe in any Ocean thanks to Jaws, and at night all my curtins get closed so I will not see some little kid vampire scratching at my windows a la Salem's Lot (the origional more so then the remake)
I was also affected by The Salem's Lot scene with the vamp kid outside the window, and another scene that really affected me was the ending of the original Halloween when Jamie Lee Curits shoots Michael six times and then the camera pans to her face and then it goes back to the place Michael fell and he isn't there anymore man that scene still gives me the creeps. The last story in Creepshow really freaked me out as well man I just love horror films!!
Body:
In the late 80's (about '88 I believe) there was a very brief lived TV series called "Freddy's Nightmares" . The very first episode of this series was titled "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and it dealt with the origins of Freddy Krueger. Brilliantly directed by the legendary Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), this thing was genuinely creepy and scary and had some insane amounts of gore for a TV show! This SHOULD have been a feature length movie... I think it would have been a hit! < GOR > I do remember that, That would have been a great movie. Another one i would like to see would be a prequel to The Hitcher. I would like to know why the hitchhiker became the way he was
I think a great one to do a prequel for would be The Lost Boys, I know the sequel was shit but I think that if the prequel focused on the origin of David and if Keifer Sutherland played the part again that it would be worth watching. On a side note I just saw the original Prom Night and I loved it!
Body:

I haven't yet seen the last one but I'm sure I will enjoy it. I liked all three of the original trilogy about equally... It would be hard for me to choose a favorite. If I HAD to choose one I would say that the first in a series is always the best. So, out of default, I would have to go with "Raiders" as the best. Basically, Harrison Ford is one of those where I think that EVERY movie that he was in just rocked! John Wayne, Bruce Lee, Charly Bronson, James Coburn, Stephen Segal and guys like that. Besides the Indiana Jones and Star Wars trilogies as well as the "Jack Ryan" movies, Ford was in a number of other memorable movies as well... American Graffitti , Force Ten From Navarone , Blade Runner and What Lies Beneath are some examples... < GOR >
You left out what is probably my favorite role from him in The Fugitive.
I agree that Harrison Ford is a definite box office draw, and that most of his performances are at least believable. He still should have won an award for Witness but that's the academy for you. Oh and on a side note I loved Crystal Skull too I just re watched it on DVD and have to say that it was better than I remembered.
Body: With Halloween in the late 70's the slasher genre was born, and since then there have been few really good slasher film's well this is one of them. The production is obviously low budget but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the final film in fact for me it actually added to the cult feel the film really needs. Technically there is nothing really interesting going on the camera pretty much just takes the same angles over and over again but the mood and tone is very creepy and has a definite 70's feel to it (the theme of the prom is disco). Jamie Lee Curtis comes on the coat tails of Halloween and was obviously type cast which is maybe one reason she gave such a solid performance, all of the other cast did a great job for the purpose of the film. Overall a worthy addition to the indie world and a great harmless scare!!
Body: I am a big comic book reader and a devoted fan to most of the film adaptations that have come along, and this past summer was particularly filled with them. With films like Iron Man and The Dark Knight dominating the box office it seems that the Hulk got left in the dust (for the second time). Ang Lee's version was a disaster and the question I was asking through the entire movie was why we even needed another Hulk movie. It isn't a sequel to the Lee version and it basically just retells the origin story. Ang's version didn't have enough action and this one had to much, and talk about bad CGI the hulk looked like a man in a suit. The only redeeming thing about the film was the first half hour or so which was by far the most interesting thing in the film. The performances are wasted because of the material, I have learned because of The Dark Knight that just because it is a superhero movie doesn't mean the acting has to be bad. All I can really say is that if you are looking for an awesome superhero flick skip the hulk and rent Iron Man, or wait for The Dark Knight to come to DVD. Oh and P.S. I was disapointed in Ed's performance.
Body: I found American Pie to be a sweet and nostalgic look at adolescence and relationships that develop throughout those years. American Pie 2 is pretty much the same recipe add some new characters and a cabin by the lake. Jim and his friends have all finished their first year of college and are experiencing their first summer at home. The Summer starts off slow and then Kevin (Thomas Ian NIcholas) gets an idea from his brother to rent a cabin by lake Michigan. At the end of the summer they plan to throw a huge party that everyone will remember. The jokes are as funny as they where in the first one, the characters are just as likable and in the case of Stifler unlikable as they where in the first one so if you where a fan of the first one you will most likely like the sequel but it doesn't really give any thing new to the formula worked in the first film. Oh well I guess the important thing is that I enjoyed it!!
Body: American Pie launched the new generation of teen sex comedies. The only differences between American Pie and oh lets say National Lampoon's Animal House is the time they are set in ( oh yeah and that the cast actually look like they could be in high school). The comedy in this film is actually just part of a bigger story and the one reason it works is because the audience likes and can identify with the characters. Jason Biggs plays Jim a goofy but likable high school senior that makes a pact with his three friends (played by Thomas Ian Nicholas, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Chris Klein) to loose their virginity by graduation. The film then makes it clear that our heroes are only going to sucseed is if their female friends let them. All of the women in this film instead of being portrayed as mere sex objects (like in the film mentioned above) are actually portrayed as being smart and very comfortable with their sexuality. All in all I would recommend that anyone between the ages of 17 to 25 see this film.
Body: This film has been very controversial since it's memorial day release. I like a lot of other people had high expectations and fortunatley mine where met!! This is exactly what Indiana Jones is supposed to be and Steven, George, and Harrison are back in fine form. I saw this in a packed theatre and the crowd was reacting well to what was going on on screen. After waiting nineteen years for indy to come back to the big screen there couldn't have been better. So i know that viewers are going to have different opinions about the fourth installment of the series but I thought that it was faithful to the spirit of the other three films and for die hard Indy fans will be just what they are looking for.
Body: This film threw me for a loop when I first saw it. Basically it advertises it's self as a horror film but there is no horror for the first half of the film. The first half of the story revolves around two brothers Richard and Seth Geko trying to get across the border and away from the law. In order to do that they have to kidnapp Harvey Keitel and his family so they can use their motor home. Once they get across the border that is when the horror starts. The characters are very watchable and the tension is very well built up, the dialouge is penned by the master Quentin Tarantino and the film is lensed by Robert Rodriguez. The performances are above average and George Clooney makes a great bad ass. It is worth a viewing!!
Body: One thing that Michael Mann is great at doing is leaving the viewer feeling overwhelmed. He does it again with this epic action/thriller. The scope of this film is enormous and the performances are phenomenal especially from De Niro and Pacino. Other than that is there a reason to see this film the answer to that question is a most definite yes!! I was enthralled by every frame and shot of this picture as I was watching it I couldn't help but love all of the characters (even the villains) there is so much story and character development that the action almost gets in the way. All in all I think that this is one of the most beautiful and compelling thrillers I have ever seen and if you love film at all you should most certainly see it!!
Body: Is one of the most memorable lines of this cracking good film. Ed Norton plays the narrator and the movie follows his journey of meeting a soap salesman Tyler Durden (played fantastically by Brad Pitt). The movie is brilliantly directed by David Fincher (Se7en, Panic Room, The Game, Alien 3). I can't really say anything else except see this film right away if you haven't already!!
Body: This is a very worthy addition to the horror franchise that is The Exorcist. Now as a prequel the story focuses on the origin of Father Merrin ( one of the priests that exorcised Regan in the original) who is played brilliantly by Stellan Skarsgard. It takes place in Africa and the cinematography and direction are very good. The only qualm I have about this film is that I think there is way to much CGI. The original Exorcist was made in 1973 way before computer graphics where invented so the film makers had to do in camera effects which I find to be a lot more effective in the way of horror films. So I recommend seeing it but the CGI is way overdone.
Body: Back in 1999 The Exorcist was voted by entertainment weekly as the scariest film of all time. I have to say that even though it was made in 1973 it definitley lives up to that name. I was enthralled by every minute of this film. The beginning started off a bit slow, but because of that the film makers were able to develop the characters so well that when the horror does start you really feel for them. The horror is very memorable and visceral and leaves the viewer breathless. The direction and all of the performances are brilliant especially Linda Blair as the posessed child Regan. As a big horror fan I think it is safe to say that this is the king of all horror movies and for viewers that don't have a faint heart I will definitley recommend this classic!
Body: I had a really good time with this film. Comedies usually just annoy and bore me but I found myself laughing out loud to some of the jokes and really identifying with the characters. Technically there wasn't anything that blew me, but the cast and humor more than made up for the lack of direction. The script was well written as well and overall I really enjoyed this film.
Body: The first Robert Rodiguez film I saw was Desperado and ever since I saw that I have been hooked on him as a director. I will admit that it has been hit or miss since then but in my opinion this one was definitley a hit. It has all of the elements a movie needs, great actors, action, comedy, a little romance and a killer soundtrack. I have fun with it every time I put the DVD in and I think it is one of the few perfect films. Sure there are flaws in continuity and stuff like that but as far as enjoyment levels go this is one of my guilty pleasures. A great one to watch around the Halloween season as well. So check it out.
Body: Joe Wright is the acclaimed director of the 2005 masterpiece Pride and Prejudice when I saw that I knew his next film would be just as vast and just as emotional. All I can say is that Atonement is all of those things and more, it is beautiful to look at and has a heart wrenching love story. James McAvoy and Keira Knightley are great as the two lovers and all of the other performances are very note worthy as well. One thing I feel I must comment on is the way this film was shot, every frame and every angle was perfectly crafted and executed I could watch it again just to see the beauty of the picture. I was pleasantly surprised by the story and how sweeping it turned out to be, the first time I saw the trailer I thought it looked simple and predictable I was wrong on both counts. Just see this wonderful film and you will be reminded of the power of love, and the power of film.
