If you are a member of this group, you love everything about the Super Bowl of movies, especially the movies themselves! You love to make predictions, guess at the politics, discuss and dissect who should have been nominated and who should have won...or, you're just an avid movie lover that likes to pay attention. Group Name: Movies we do not want to see - Try to convince us to see these movies!
Group Description: Want to be a member? Send me a message with a list of at least 5 movies that you do not want to see.

There are many movies that I do not want to see. I'm not sure if its right of me to decide never to see a movie without seeing it. You know...like when a kid says they hate mushrooms even though they admit never trying them. So maybe this is a good spot for people to display movies they don't think they want to see, and see if anyone can convince us to try them out.
Body: From Deliberations of a Red-Headed Stepchild Blog http://deliberationsfromaredheadedstepchild.blogspot.com/ Taken (2009)Starring – Liam Neeson & Maggie GraceDirector – Pierre MorelDomestic Gross – Not Yet ReleasedRunning Time - 93 minutesWhat would happen if someone tried to kidnap Jason Bourne’s kid?! If you’re curious you should definitely check out Taken when it’s released later this week. The film starts out a little slow explaining how Bryan Mills (Neeson) came to live in LA. He is a former government operative who retired to reconnect with his daughter. He then begrudgingly allows his daughter to go to Paris on vacation. Then, as you’ve no doubt seen in the trailers, she is abducted. That’s where the fun begins. Mills goes apeshit over the next 96 hours in an attempt to get his daughter back. It is fast-paced and exciting and should be enjoyed on the big screen. Definitely check it out!I’m Mike D and I approve this message.
Body: While I don't have any that involve Munchkin Rape I've got a few pretty terrible remakes... "O" - Othello - I know it was mentioned, but you really can't comprehend how terrible this film was. I was living in Charleston, SC when this came out and since it was filmed there I watched it for the local scenery. Wow! It was awful. "Get Over It" - Misummer Nights Dream - When you've got Sisqo and Coolio involved with Shakespeare you know it's bad. Add to that Kirsten Dunst who peaked at age 6 and you're treading in very dangerous water. "Tromeo & Juliet" - Romeo & Juliet - The tagline says it all... Body Piercing, Kinky Sex, Dismemberment. The Things That Made Shakespeare Great "The Longest Yard" - Really... We're going to replace Jim Hampton's classic Caretaker with Chris Rock... Nope. Swing and a miss. "Poseidon" - The Poseidon Adventure - I won't even dignify this with a response. "Pink Panther" - The Pink Panther - Replacing Peter Sellers with Stever Martin = Steaming Bucket of Crap.
Body: This may be a bit of a stretch, but I feel like when Cusack talks his rhythm is kind of like Shatner... So, in honor of that I give you the Star Trek version of High Fidelity: Rob Gordon - William Shatner (Capt. Kirk) Laura - Yellow Alien Chick with Antenas Dick - Walter Koenig (Checkov) Barry - James Doohan (Scotty) Marie - Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) Charlie - Hot Blue Alien Liz - Majel Barrett (Nurse Chapel) Ian - Leonard Nimoy (Spock) Older Customer - George Takei (Sulu) Louis - Deforest Kelley (McCoy) Marco - A Tribble Springsteen - The Cantina Band from Star Ways I realize this is completely absurd, but think about a few things A) How hilarious would it be for Scotty to sing "Let's Get It On" B) Charlie running off with a Tribble because it's gorgeous C) Leonard Nimoy with a pony tail to play Ian. I really think he can pull it off. D) the dream sequence with the Cantina Band coming to talk to Rob in clicks and whistles while Shatner responds with paused sentences. Outstanding! ~El Cid
Body: Top 5 Cult Movies (that don't involve John Carpenter, Kurt Russell or Bruce Campbell) Yes, everyone knows that Big Trouble in Little China, Evil Dead 2, Army Of Darkness, The Thing, They Live, Tango & Cash, etc are F-ing awesome. That's why every time someone makes a top cult movies list a few of those movies slip onto it. Too easy. Try these out. 5. TapeHeads - Terribly dated and overconfident about it's own cleverness, this move still charms. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku_wLVbIUA4 4. Story Of Ricky (Ricky O) - Generally I don't go for Kung Fu movies but maybe thats because most Kung Fu movies don't have people punching through bodies like balsa wood and using their own intestines as strangulation weapons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQf4Zowi3Jg 3. Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetary Man) - Possibly the strangest zombie movie I've ever seen. This one gets downright existential. Plus there's a really hot Italian chick that gets naked... a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQf4Zowi3Jg 2. Repo Man - A movie ostensibly about suburban alienation, punk, repo men, a strange Chevy Malibu, metaphysics, aliens, secret government agencies, neutron bombs, lobotomies, fruitcake, air fresheners, plates of shrimp and more. Infinitely quotable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=554AX4l1tmw 1. Night Of The Creeps - A late night cable classic. Still unavailable on an officially released dvd. I paid $40 for my bootleg dvd on ebay a few years ago. And I would have paid more. It's that awesome. As a sidenote this movie actually references John Carpenter, Kurt Russell and Bruce Campbell. That had to be worth extra points to help is snag the top spot. "Thrill Me". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAQ0u4LKNmw
Body: I realize that we are generally pretty PG around here, but my friends and I put together this Top 5 that I thought was hilarious and works with the music theme of High Fidelity. Without further ado I give you: Top 5 Songs that are really just Thinly Veiled Metaphors for Oral Sex 5. "Tomorrow" Silverchair: Sample Lyric - "Wont you come with me, to a place in a little town - The only way to get there's to go straight down - Theres no bathroom, and there is no sink - The water out of the tap is very, hard to drink"4. "Candy Shop" 50 cent: Sample Lyric - "I'll take you to the candy shop - I'll let you lick the lollypop - Go 'head girl don't you stop- Keep going 'til you hit the spot" 3. "Rock Me Gently" Andy Kim: For the longest time I thought that this song was just about regular old sex but check this Sample Lyric - "Oh my darlin' Oh my baby - You got the moves that drive me crazy - And on your face I see a trace of love" 2. "Misfire" Queen: Keep in mind this song is sung by a dude about a dude (not that there's anything wrong with that). Enjoy Sample Lyric - "Your gun is loaded - And pointing my way - There's only one bullet - So don't delay - Got to time it right- Fire me through the night- Come on take a shot - Fire me higher - Don't you miss this time - Please don't misfire" 1. "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" Ohio Express: This bubble-gum pop song of the 60's has become a staple on kids albums. Thats right, somewhere a 4 year old is singing these lyrics. Sample Lyric - "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy. - I got love in my tummy, - And I feel like a-lovin you - Love, you're such a sweet thing, - Good enough to eat thing - And that's just a-what I'm gonna do."
- I got love in my tummy, - And I feel like a-lovin you - Love, you're such a sweet thing, - Good enough to eat thing - And that's just a-what I'm gonna do."</spout:body>

Body: Hey there Movie Friends... It's been a while, but High Fidelity is one of my all-time favorites and I'm going to be all over this one. I'll post some favorite Top 5's that my friends and I have done in the past later, but I have to find them in my email. For my first attempt here is an updated casting for a makeable movie: Rob Gordon - Casey AffleckLaura - Rachel McAdamsDick (the quiet one) - Michael CeraBarry (the Jack Black one) - NPHMarie De Salle - Jenny LewisCharlie Nicholson - Eva MendesLiz - Tina FeyIan 'Ray' Raymond - Ed NortonMiddle aged customer (the guys won't help him) - Loudon Wainwright IIILouis, the cool customer - Jermaine ClementMarco (the guy Charlie falls for) - James MarsdenSpringsteen - Bono So, I wanted to stick in to the same ages as the original characters (ish). Let's face it though you can't recast Jack Black's role and expect someone to pull it off. You have to go in a different direction and I think NPH himself... Mr. Neil Patrick Harris could be hilarious in redefining this role. With Ian (aka Ray) you need a guy who will play out of his normal range for the effect and I think it would be hilarious to see Ed Norton rock this. For Marie you need a cool chick that can sing and Jenny Lewis has established herself as the Indie Queen with some acting chops in her past to boot... Who didn't love it when she kissed Fred Savage in The Wizard?!? Keeping it in the music realm I thought it would be great to have the guys in the store refuse to help Loudon Wainwright. Then, for Louis you need the guy to be cool, but I couldn't think of a cool black actor in that age range that isn't Will Smith. So, if you can't get a black guy to be cool you need a white guy with an accent hence Jermaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords. Finally, with the slightly younger age range the dream sequence musician couldn't be anyone other than Bono. Thanks! I should have a few more on this later. ~El Cid
Body: The more I thought about it I don’t really see anyone in Hollywood trying to do a straight remake, but they would absolutely try to make a more urban “Breakfast Club” a la “Can’t Buy Me Love” = “Love Don’t Cost A Think” so this is my effort to cast an urban version: Andrew 'Andy' Clark (The Jock) – Bow Wow (Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) Brian Ralph Johnson (The Geek) – Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris) John Bender (The Criminal) – Khleo Thomas (Holes) Claire Standish (The Princess) – Jenna Dewan (Step Up) Allison Reynolds (The Bucket of Crazy) – Melonie Diaz (Hamlet 2) Principal Richard Vernon – Regina King (Boondocks) Carl the Janitor – John Witherspoon (Friday) I tried to come up with a witty re-title for it, but failed miserably. ~ElCid2002 aka Mike D
Body: As much as I love the themed responses I wanted to take a stab at this as if they really were going to remake it because unlike the impossible to remake "Ghostbusters" some jerk will definitely try to redo this one. Zac Efron (High School the Musical) - Andrew 'Andy' Clark (The Jock) Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad) - Brian Ralph Johnson (The Geek) Scott M. Foster (Greek) - John Bender (The Criminal) Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) - Claire Standish (The Princess) Kristen Stewart (Into the Wild) - Allison Reynolds (The Bucket of Crazy) Judd Nelson (Breakfast Club) - Principal Richard Vernon Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead) - Carl the Janitor Zac Efron has the look and enough athleticism to pull off “The Jock”. No young actor is geekier than McLovin himself. While “Greek” isn’t exactly WB material Scott Foster has that Judd Nelson-like charm where he can be hilarious and snarky one minute then a moderately tough guy the next. Leighton Meester has proven on “Gossip Girl” that she can be “The Princess”. Kristen Stewart is definitely an overflowing bucket full of crazy and can clean up too… Perfect. My favorite bit of casting is putting Judd Nelson in the role of the principal. The irony alone is great, but he proved on those USA and Lifetime movies that he’s old and creepy enough to fill the giant shoes left by 80s icon Paul Gleason. Frankly, if Judd Nelson is too busy filming a Saturday Night Sci-Fi Original then I want Paul Gleason back. Carl the Janitor was either the hardest character to cast or the easiest depending on how you look at it. I would have loved to just plug Bill Murray in there so he could play Carl (the Greenskeeper) Spackler moving on to his second career, but if someone were to actually make this you know he wouldn’t be involved. On the other hand Mr. Bruce Campbell would definitely be able to fit it in between those awesome Old Spice commercials. Since I posted so late some of you had some awesome ones that I had to avoid. Kudos to Mercurial for Blake Lively as The Princess and Nora Zehetner as The Crazy. Good one also to Leeroy711 for Lacey Chabert. ~ElCid2002 aka Mike D
Body: I spent a semester in Australia during college (2001-ish) and the college had a giant theater that they used for lectures during the day and for some movies at night. Every Wednesday they had double features. I know we went to a ton of them, but the greatest one of all-time (and the only one I remember) was Snatch and Shaft. They not only showed these movies, but they also put up posters all over campus without a hint of irony. I guess maybe the words don't have the same connotations in their language.
