Body: I am a bargain hunter in general, but I love to dig for things. I have made it pretty much a standard that I don't pay full price for Criterions even though I love them. I have a hard time paying $40 for a movie. Here are a few that I have found for really really low prices.Seven Samurai - $7 (Blockbuster used area)Carnival of Soulds - $5 (Second hand store)Band of Outsiders - $6 (Bizarre junk shop in Niles Michigan)Shock Corridor - $8 (Going out of business clearance at Hollywood Video) Robocop - $25 (ebay, usually sells for $80ish... its out of print) I will add more if I have any new super on the cheap aquisitions.
Body: So I came to the realization that Criterion Collection DVDs are incredible. You already know this because you're part of this group... but the ones I have in my personal collection are my most prized. I've actually re-bought the same film on Criterion, after actually owning it on an inferior DVD previously. Each disc is prized, and I want to keep it in my personal collection permanently. We just bought both Videodrome and Picnic at Hanging Rock on Criterion, and I can't to see them and get into the features. Victor and I actually made the statement "I only want to buy Criterion Collection discs from now on"...
Body: I never thought that I'd ever be taking a David Lynch film to Worst Movie Ever court, but Lost Highway has to be one of the worst films I think I've ever seen. I've never seen a movie where there have been this many pauses before. Every scene was shot as if it was that pivotal moment in the film and instead of adding to the tension, it got old. The entire movie was like being in a bad dream. The characters seemed to change roles at will and I could never get a sense of where events were suppose to be occuring within the storyline. In the end there was no plot, no message and no entertainment. This one is definetely guilty of being a movie that you should not rent.
Body: Ive been to quite a few pretty loud concerts - including Metallica (3 times), Black Label Society, Mastadon, Mudvayne, Deftones, POD. However, the loudest act I've ever been to had to have been Rob Zombie at the orbit room in GR. Normally my ears ring into the day after the concert, but after that one, my hearing was going in and out and ringing for 2 months straight. Great show though.
Body: This was the first dvd I ever rented, back in April 2000. Haven't seen the sequel yet, but I enjoyed the series, "Stand Alone Complex".
