Body: Hey guys, You can see the winner on page 5 of this discussion thread. You can also hear Adam and Matty discuss the contest on the Filmspotting podcast. Our next challenge: take the red pill, recast The Matrix (1999). Have a good holiday weekend, skypilot Top 5 Movies to Teach an Alien About Earth The year is 2010. The United States has a black president, people play golf with titanium sticks, cars are powered by--of all things--hydrogen, and Netflix offers every movie ever made on the Internet. NASA gets a signal from an extra-terrestrial life form. The alien has just signed up for Netflix and wants five movies that will teach it about life on Earth. For reasons too elaborate to explain, you--yes you--have been picked to choose these five movies. Do you go historical with Schindler's List? Or put a positive spin on things with Dumbo? Do you explain children with A Christmas Story and old people with Cocoon? Or do you really roll the dice and send them War of the Worlds? --Paul
Body: The winners are on page 2 of this discussion and on the Filmspotting podcast. Stay tuned for news about upcoming contests. ________________________ THE CLONE WARS movie kicks off a television series exploring George Lucas' "Star Wars Universe," and Lucas promises future TV series to follow. We started to think about how great it would be for PBS to explore the Star Wars Universe. Like Carl Sagan investigating giant asteroid worms, or Bill Moyers interviewing Yoda, or a 3-2-1 Contact about droids--the educational programming we really wanted to see as kids, like a Ken Burns documentary series on "The Force." Tell us your idea for a PBS show--or just any educational show--about something in the Star Wars Universe. The show we want to see the most will be our winner.
Body: The winners are discussed on page 6 of this thread and on the Filmspotting podcast. CAST BATMAN 3 The unfortunate passing of Heath Ledger made The Dark Knight an even bigger cliffhanger than it was meant to be. If the Joker's story isn't resolved, it'll be like if Han Solo had never been freed from carbonite. On the other hand, maybe there's another villain worthy of taking the spotlight after the Joker's turn in The Dark Knight. Pick a villain and an actor to play him. Write a brief letter to Christopher Nolan, convincing him your villain is worthy of being the Dark Knight's adversary in Batman 3. Some people are saying Johnny Depp would make a great Riddler, but is the Riddler a great villain? So choose a villain and an actor, and the most exciting pair wins. The hard working publicists at spout.com will try their darndest to get the winning choices in front of Christopher Nolan. No guarantees, but it's worth a shot, huh?
