Group Name: B Movies - B is for better
Group Description:
B movies are like the original Not Ready for Primetime Players--funny, brave, brainless, learned, rowdy, rough, ribald, and dangerous.

B movies can be like a seven dollar bottle of champagne, miles away from the real thing but every bit as fun. (Semi-Pro)

They can be like absinthe, so bizarre you wonder if you're actually enjoying yourself. Nobody else will be able to tell you. (Eraserhead)

They can be like moonshine. Lightning in a bottle, you wonder how the maker captured it, you wonder if they even know how good it is or if they could do it again. (The Night of the Hunter)

They're like surprise hard cider. Something that's been set aside, and then you find it by accident, take a tentative sip, and it knocks you to the floor! (Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women)

They're like straight Yagermeister, the kind with deerblood and mercury in it. An acquired taste that never lets you forget how dangerous it is, and others can't fathom why you're in love with it. (Wicker Man--1974).

Body: I remember that opening scene in the vehicle and the killer is proceeding to do something with a skull. Now for alll you that have seen Haute Tension, you know what I am talking about? From that point on after he is done and discards the head out the window, the movie proceeds to get better with plot and gore! After seeing that and not being disapointed. I have proceeded to watch most films from France. Since Malefique (2003) there has been a huge sucess in Movies over there. Problem with France is that only movies tthat are allowed on tv , are the only ones really allowed to be filmed over there. So movies like haute tension(High Tension (2003)), Sheitan (2006), Ils(Them (2006)), Calvaire (2004) and my favorite for this year À l'intérieur (2007). If it wasn't for StudioCanal releasing these, we may have never seen them this quick! Also Movies like Gasper Noe's Irreversible (2002) and I Stand Alone (1998) were really well done and not for the faint of heart. Also Claire Denis's film Trouble Every Day (2001) which was well done. I am curious to know, what other people may think, of all this new french horror? And there opinions on these movies?
Body: When I was in Latin class, our teacher told us that the worst possible ghost was a baby ghost, since they were all pissed that their lives just started and then ended so quickly. But what about baby ZOMBIES? Gage in Pet Semetary was pretty scary. And those weird little baby zombies in Silent Hill were creepy as hell. There's also the one in the Dawn of the Dead remake...that was just wrong, though. Ew. Anyway, what other movies have had baby (or little kid) zombies? I can't think of any...oh! Dead Alive, duh. Yeah. Gotta love the baby zombie in that one.
Body: I come from a different age and a different era than most of you. My music is the music I grew up with; The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Bad Company, Grand Funk, Def Lepperd, Great White, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, etc,etc... My music collection is quite immense and it is all on LP records! I only own 2 CD's! Back in the day, musicians could actually sing and play musical instruments! (imagine that!) ... there were no 'disc-spinning MC's'. So I would like all of you younger people to check out a stunning performance of one of the greatest songs of all time... and check out the size of the crowd... these guys would sell out stadiums and arenas wherever they went! It is a little thing we used to call 'Rock and Roll'... check it out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mioGewkWVdo
Body: You know the horse from Ren and Stimpy? MISTER HORSE: Hmmm... (rubs chin with hoof, wags tail) No sir, I don't like it. That's what I'm like when I wonder if I liked Eraserhead. I recently saw it for the third time. It was showing in an independent movie theatre, and there was a guy in the lobby trying to decide if he should see it. He asked me, "Is it good?" "Not really, but you'll never forget it." "That's what everyone's saying!" he said. Have you guys had movie experiences like this? Do you have a name for them? And why do I keep watching Eraserhead if I can't even say I like it? Circle of Iron is a little like this for me too, though I have more fun watching that movie than Eraserhead. I struggle for the metaphors to describe what it's like for me to watch Circle of Iron... It's like drinking celery-flavored pop, then burping a little bit of warm soda back into my mouth, and then laughing.
Body: While Clint Eastwood's "Inspector Harry Callahan" could be classified as a "serial killer" himself (He HAS racked up quite an impressive body count over the course of his films), it is a little known fact that the original Dirty Harry was actually based on the Zodiac Killer case. So now, having established relevence to this group, I just wanted to say that I just heard the news that Eastwood is making a new "Dirty Harry" movie and that the soon-to-be 78 year old (!) actor/director is intending to kill off the beloved character. I think this is a brilliant move by Eastwood that will neatly put an end to the franchise and forever secure his place in cinematic history. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Also, as I recently mentioned elsewhere, I heard the rumor that Sly Stallone is intending to step into the shoes of the late great Charles Bronson and take over the Death Wish franchise. Now HERE was a TRUE "serial Killer" who also happened to be a beloved "hero"! Any thoughts on this? I would love to hear what you guys think about both of these subjects. < GOR >
