You would be amazed at the hatred the average Brit has for Four Weddings.. , I liked it when I saw it in 1994, but there were audible groans whenever anyone mentioned it in the UK. I asked why and the answer I got was that it is so stereotypically British that it almost comes off as an insult to their culture. It was so odd to see that seemingly innocuous romantic comedy being used as a lightning rod for their anger at British comedies.
