Title: Black Lagoon [Anime Series]
Year: 2006
Plot: Salaryman and corporate underling Rokuro Okajima spends his days in the stale confines of the office and his nights at the bar, entertaining clients. One day he's given a routine task by his boss: take a trip to SE Asia to deliver an important CD. Unfortunately, a mercenary outfit known as Black Lagoon hijacks the situation, steals the disc, and kidnaps Rokuro for ransom - and what's worse, his boss decides the disc is more important than Rokuro is, and leaves him stranded with the criminals! Strangely enough, however, a modern day pirate's life seems to suit Rokuro in a way, so he joins the wild Revy and her rip-roaring crew, seeking fortune and finding trouble at every stop. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide
Body: Merc took all of my ideas! (At least that's my story) I honestly am having trouble with this one. Maybe I just don't know what a traditional hero is. I kind of see all heros as being fucked up in one way or another. Perhaps the whole greek tragedy with their flawed hero characters has stuck with me since high school. I'll go with some anime for now - Gutz - from Berserk Van - from Gun X Sword Dracula - from Hellsing Himura Kenshin - from Rurouni Kenshin Rock - from Black Lagoon Lelouche - from Code Geass Spike - from Cowboy Bebop
Body: I would have to say that Saikano is one the saddest anime I have ever seen. It is definitely a series I enjoyed regardless. I would also say that Black Lagoon had some rather depressing episodes especially the last couple in the 2nd season. As a warning, Black Lagoon is definitely NOT for anyone under 17 years of age in my opinion. It is hands down one of the most violent, bloody, and mature anime series I've ever seen. I've recently been watching a series called Monster. It is very well done, and doesn't fit into the typical genre-types of anime. It is a mystery, thriller, drama, with some action and a bit of horror. I wouldn't say this series sad in a wistful emo kind of way like Saikano, but it certainly has moments of sadness.
