Title: Peach Girl [Anime Series]
Year: 2005
Plot: Few people understand the value of the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover" like high schooler Momo Adachi. With her tan skin and long, flowing blonde hair, everyone assumes Momo is a happy-go-lucky air-head, but the truth is that the teenage girl is insecure, and barely has the confidence to approach the boy she's been crushing on since middle school. Fear, jealousy, and even betrayal can be a part of daily life in high school, but Momo the "Peach Girl" is determined to find her confidence and break out of her one dimensional image. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide
Body: Well, I thought this would be appropriate since it's Valentines Day. What are your favorite mushy or cheesy romance anime? Or what is your favorite couple from any anime series? Or what is something else you want to discuss related to anime and romance? I think most romantic anime have a sense of cheesiness to them. I love how a girl will be confessing her feelings towards a boy, and all of a sudden random cherry blossoms will fly up behind them out of nowhere. XD Or when random bubbles and sparkles appear around someone when they are talking about their love. One really cute anime that I think is good for Valentines Day watching is Lovely Complex. It's about a very tall girl and a very short boy who initially hate each other, but of course end up falling in love, creating quite the odd couple. It actually has a couple Valentines episodes in it, making it the perfect series to watch today. Another great romance series is Peach Girl. It's about a girl who has to overcome a deceitful copy-cat friend to find her true love by choosing between the two guys she likes. I don't remember any Valentines specifc episodes, but it's cheesy romance at it's best, mixed in with a bit of humor. ^^ If you don't mind an older animation style with a slightly cheaper budget, then Marmalade Boy is a great romance series. I actually haven't seen the whole anime (the animation isn't the most high-quality anyways), but the manga is amazing at least. It's about a girl named Miki who's parents decide to divorce and marry another couple who has also just divorced, essentially switching partners. To make matters even more complicated, they all decide to move into one house, along with the teenage son of the couple her parents are marrying. Miki soon falls for their son, and has to choose between him and her old crush Ginta, as well as face other problems with her dysfunctional family.
