<strong>Title:</strong> Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation<br/>
<strong>Year:</strong> 2004<br/>
<strong>Director:</strong> Chris Strompolos, Jayson Lam, Eric Zala<br/>
<strong>Plot:</strong> Plenty of folks have a favorite movie they'll watch over and over again, but Jayson Lamb, Chris Strompolos, and Eric Zala enjoyed <a href="/players/P___112325/default.aspx" style='text-decoration:underline'>Steven Spielberg</a> and <a href="/players/P___100308/default.aspx" style='text-decoration:underline'>George Lucas</a>' freewheeling action picture <a href=/films/28020/default.aspx style='text-decoration:underline'>Raiders of the Lost Ark</a> a bit more than the average fan. The three friends were between the ages of 11 and 12 and attending school in Mississippi when <a href=/films/70632/default.aspx style='text-decoration:underline'>Raiders</a> became a runaway hit in 1981. Fascinated with the movie's intricate plot, striking special effects, and nonstop action, Jayson, Chris, and Eric decided to remake the film themselves, partly for fun and partly to figure out how it all was done. Armed with home-video cameras, improvised sets and costumes, and a lot of imagination, the three friends shot and edited a virtual scene-for-scene recreation of <a href=/films/28020/default.aspx style='text-decoration:underline'>Raiders of the Lost Ark</a> between 1982 and 1989 starring Strompolos as Indy; Lamb served as director and editor while Zala handled camerawork and special effects. After a screening of the final product for family and friends, the homegrown remake gathered dust in the guys' attics until filmmaker <a href="/players/P___355297/default.aspx" style='text-decoration:underline'>Eli Roth</a> obtained a bootleg copy in 2002 (Zala made a few dubs of the video for some friends while attending New York University) and eventually passed it along to <a href="/players/P___112325/default.aspx" style='text-decoration:underline'>Steven Spielberg</a>, who to the great surprise of Jayson, Chris, and Eric invited the guys (now in their thirties) to Hollywood and expressed his enthusiasm for their tribute to his film. Since then, Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation has been receiving occasional screenings at film festivals, and producer <a href="/players/P___109231/default.aspx" style='text-decoration:underline'>Scott Rudin</a> has purchased the screen rights to Lamb, Strompolos, and Zala's story, with Daniel Clowes writing a screenplay based on their youthful adventures. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide<br/>

<title>Spout Post: ‘Dark Knight’ Trailer With Children. Clip of the Day</title>

<strong>Body:</strong>
Yes, I could have embedded the cool new Watchmen trailer, but the YouTube clips I saw just didn’t do the visuals justice (watch it on Apple.com instead). And sure, I could have shared the long-awaited Twilight trailer, but it doesn’t actually look all that appealing — I know the books are popular, but the adaptation just looks like The Lost Boys meets Dawson’s Creek (if you must, view it on Yahoo!). Anyway, I’m sure you’re seeing The Dark Knight this weekend (unless you have a really lame excuse not to), so you’ll likely see both those trailers, as well as the one for Terminator Salvation, ahead of the film.
So, here’s something better, or at least cuter. It’s also very, very silly. Almost to the point of not being worth its time. Fortunately, that Bat-kid riding around on his Bat-tricycle is a real gem. And the outtake at the end with him running after the junior Joker is even more precious. I’m a sucker for anything involving little kids and movies (unless it’s little kids at the movies or, often, little kids in the movies), in case you couldn’t tell from that Star Wars review I embedded awhile back (and yet, no, I still haven’t seen either Son of Rambow or the kid-made remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark).
For more with kids and Batman costumes, also check out this video, which, if a comment made on this week’s Project Runway premiere is true, might actually be of Heidi Klum’s son. And for more videos made by the people who made the one above, check out Wizard Universe.

<strong>Body:</strong> Renewed my faith in movies. Magical and hilarious all at the same time. Had a Q&amp;A with the cast/crew after and it was just as entertaining. Remake of Raiders by a group of 12-year-olds that took 6 years to complete. The sets were impressive and the movie was amazing. Low on budget but rich in heart. (that was so lame).<br/>
