<strong>Title:</strong> Back to the Future Part III<br/>
<strong>Year:</strong> 1990<br/>
<strong>Director:</strong> Robert Zemeckis<br/>
<strong>Plot:</strong> The final installment in the <a href=/films/2146/default.aspx style='text-decoration:underline'>Back to the Future</a> trilogy picks up where the second film left off, but it casts off the dizzying time travel of the first two films for mostly routine comedy set in the Old West. Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) receives a 70-year-old letter from his inventor friend, Doc Brown (<a href="/players/P____42805/default.aspx" style='text-decoration:underline'>Christopher Lloyd</a>), who tells Marty that he has retreated a century in time to live out a relatively quiet life in the Old West. Doc Brown reveals that he hid his DeLorean car/time machine in an abandoned mine outside town, and when Marty does some research and discovers that the Doc died shortly after writing the letter, he decides to find the car, travel back in time, and warn the Doc about his demise. Meanwhile, the Doc, who has fallen in love with a local woman (<a href="/players/P____67856/default.aspx" style='text-decoration:underline'>Mary Steenburgen</a>), realizes he can't hide in the past from the problems he has caused to the time flow in the previous two adventures. He reluctantly decides to return to the present with Marty, but first, they have to find a way to get the DeLorean up to time-travel velocity with a broken fuel line and no gasoline. ~ Don Kaye, All Movie Guide<br/>

<strong>Body:</strong>
If Dr Gor were here he'd have already mentioned.... Back to the Future Back to the Future II Back to the Future III I have enjoyed many of the films already mentioned, but I really need to pick up Timecrimes. One of my favorite books growing up was The Time Machine, which was made into a movie, but I've never seen it. Perhaps I will someday.
Actually I wouldn't have mentioned the Back to the Future movies although they were pretty good comedies and I was a bit disturbed by the first one in that if I went back in time and met the teenage version of my mother and she looked like Lea Thompson and she had the hots for me, there might be a bit of a dilema. Both versions of The Time Machine were very good with the original, of course, being the better of the two. The "Morlocks" were effectively frightening in both. A few good ones that haven't been mentioned yet... Time Bandits ; Time traveling midget thieves create havoc in this Monty Pythonesque adventure with a great soundtrack by George Harrison. Time After Time ; H. G. Wells uses his home made time machine to pursue Jack The Ripper to modern day (at the time) San Francisco. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home ; Kirk and the boys must retrieve a mating pair of humpback whales from the 20th century in order to stop a deadly alien invasion in the future. &lt; GOR &gt;<br/>

<strong>Body:</strong> How about The Great Train Robbery (1979) and Mission: Impossible. Jackie Chan did a funny scene in Rush Hour where he was trying to get away from Chris Tucker. There's also Back to the Future Part III (1990) which has that great train scene. And while Wanted was a truly terrible film it had a great train wreck scene.<br/>

<strong>Body:</strong>

... treatment of time travel ...
... 12 Monkeys was one of the most interesting Time Travel movies. I was always amused by the Back to the Future movies how they always tried to break down time travel and the ramifications and explain it to the audience, and then it would go right ahead and break all of the rules it set up.
I agree that 12 Monkeys was good to time-travel, and that the Back to the Future series was first-and-foremost a comedy. Another one that was good to time-travel was the Terminator series - most-notably Terminator 3 which (like 12 Monkeys) presented a logical truth about Time-Travel. The Butterfly Effect (2004) might've done that too--I don't remember. Bluntly, that truth is that there are some things you can't prevent (just like there are some you can't predict.) It makes me think of Rubik's Algorhythms---sets of four twists that, when repeated, move a selected square to the 'front' without radically changing any of the other squares on the 'front' (I saw in a Squidoo-lens a while ago). Likewise, time travel can't change the 'present future' (the 'face'), it seems it can only make sure that a selected being moves into it.<br/>

I should also rewatch it to get a better idea of the consistency, or lackthereof, with their use of time travel.<br/>

<strong>Body:</strong> Boy, a bunch come to mind right away for me. Wild, Wild West Van Helsing Back to the Future Part III (1990) ...and, if we can include animated features (which I see no reason we can't), I feel like a lot of Anime features could fit into this category, especially: Howl's Moving Castle (2004) Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind (1984) I never realized it, but I love steampunk films, since I had no idea "Steampunk" was even a genre until recently. I'm not sure why exactly. Maybe its the whimsical element, combined with historical elements? I'm not really sure, but I somehow really connect with these films.<br/>

Remember when trailers would name-appropriately trail the movie? Me neither. I don’t think anyone does. But occasionally trailers are still shown after the main feature. Back to the Future Part III was advertised at the end of Part II, and The Matrix Reloaded ended with a preview of The Matrix Revolutions. As next installments of cliff-hanging series, though, these sequels were like the old serials from which trailers received their name (in one of multiple explanations).
I suggest that previews of big movies starring the main actor of the film you’re currently seeing also follow this model. Why? Because after watching this teaser (boy does it tease right) trailer for next summer’s Terminator Salvation, which is showing with The Dark Knight and which stars TDK’s Christian Bale, I’m too distracted by my excitement for the nex season to fully concentrate on the blockbuster at hand. Wouldn’t it be better if Warner Bros. instead slipped this trailer in right before the Dark Knight credits with an announcement like, “you’ve just seen Christian Bale in The Dark Knight; see him again next summer in … ”
A roundup of favorite comments about the trailer itself (as opposed to its placement) after the jump:

Erik Henriksen at the Portland Mercury’s Blogtown: “For fuck’s sake, considering it’s a PG-13 Terminator directed by McG, it doesn’t look nearly as terrible as it should.”
Jared Pacheco at JoBlo/Arrow in the Head: “Dare I say McG’s TERMINATOR SALVATION might actually be worth watching? That’s the first thing that crossed my mind.”
Vic Holtreman at Screen Rant: “My first thought? It’s not awful.”
Devin Faraci at CHUD: “I’m surprised that the teaser is so short on imagery - they have a lot of great physical action scenes in the can that could be shown. Still, this is an appetite whetter indeed, and I’m excited to see what goodies they bring to Comic Con next week.”
Josh Tyler at Cinema Blend: “What little there is to see however, looks alright. It’s also worth noting that the movie’s awkward, unweidly subtitole ‘The Future Begins’ is nowhere to be found in the trailer. Maybe that means they’ve dropped it. We can only hope. “

<strong>Body:</strong> Nowhere near as good as the first film, but far better than the second, I&#39;m glad they stopped here, because the series comes sputtering to a halt. I can&#39;t say I watch either of the sequels very often, as they seem like money-making vehicles rather than continuing to tell an interesting story. Tom Wilson continues to ham it up, and Michael J. Fox has become a caricature of himself, as everything seems forced and cliched. Christopher Lloyd is the only reason I even watch this one anymore, and after he did the first two Addams Family films, fell into the moat of cheesy family crap (although he has done a handful of smaller indie films that are of note). Sorry folks...I know I&#39;ll get flack for this but this is Spielberg and company at their film-ruining, uncreative worst.<br/>
