Plot: A television commercial for a Sega game system that aired during the 1999 MTV Music Video Awards landed debut director John Moore a gig behind the camera of this military action thriller. Owen Wilson stars as Lt. Chris Burnett, a naval aviator aboard the U.S.S. Carl Vinson who's frustrated with the strict "hands-off" political policies that prevent him from experiencing combat against hostile Bosnian forces in his F/A-18 Superhornet jet. Burnett's commander, Admiral Reigert (Gene Hackman), thinks that the brash pilot doesn't have what it takes to be in the millitary, but the eager young officer soon gets the chance to prove his mettle. While conducting a routine photographic reconnaissance over a remote area of the Balkans, Burnett captures grisly images that serve as proof of genocidal crimes, but his plane is blown out of the sky. He's soon pursued on the ground by the forces of Lokar (Olek Krupa), a Serbian paramilitary leader intent on covering up unthinkable crimes, while Reigert defies the NATO orders of his superior (Joaquim de Almeida) and risks his career to mount a covert rescue mission. Body: I don'g get it. How do some actors end up playing roles in certain movies.You know what I am talking about. Like when Owen Wilson shows up in Behind Enemy Lines as a pilot...Sometimes these performances turn out ok and sometimes you just dont understand how an actor who was so good in a different movie could manage to be so bad in this one.Im gonna make a list of what I mean:John Cusak: This guy might be the king of this genre for me. I just dont get how he could be so brilliant in movies like High Fidelity and Say Anything but SO horrible in movies like Identity. Seriously...that movie is BAD.Owen Wilson: As mentioned before, this guy is similar but the opposite of John Cusak in that he has been the only redeeming part of MANY of the non-Wes Anderson movies that he has been in such as Behind Enemy Lines. Seriously...how does your career survive being in movies like You Me and Dupree and The Big Bounce? TERRIBLE!Ashton Kutcher: this guy seems like a tool to me. He is sorta funny, but only in a wierd jockish frat boy sort of way. Just the way that I dont want him to be. I know some people thought he was pretty funny in That 70's Show....but really....I was totally under the impression that he was just plain dumb....until I saw The Butterfly Effect. I dunno...maybe it was just LOW expectations...but he did a really good job. And that movie was moving...There are a few more that I can think of...but those are the three I think I should get started with...LEMME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!Matt
